The prehistoric settlement on the glacial moraine hill above Schluderns at the exit of the Matschertal called Ganglegg is one of the most best-researched archaeological settlements in the Alpine region. After completion of the excavation work the remains of the settlement and the fortification wall were made accessible as an open-air museum. The unique archaeological finds can be viewed in the VUSEUM.

A hike to Ganglegg can perfectly be combined with the hiking trail along the ancient irrigation system of the Waale where you can experience this intangible cultural heritage at first hand.

The valley plain of Schluderns is home to the largest alluvial forest area in South Tyrol. There, in the Schludernser Au biotope the NaturERLEBNIS trail with its 19 stations invites young and old to discover and explore. Information is available at the VUSEUM.
